ISLAND BREEZE
With a tropical muse as their gracious host, 1,000 guests were transported to an immersive oasis
where island time was abided + a spirit of aloha, embraced. A lush, tree-canopied lawn served as
the canvas from which this dynamic, celebratory environment emerged. The centerpiece of the space
– a 360-degree bar paved with turquoise, Mid-Century “shell” tile + a 14’ trellis proudly displaying
tropical palms + rattan pennants to gently sway in the evening’s “desert island” breeze.
Anchoring the lawn were three, custom-constructed cabanas with suspended woven lanterns + plush white sectionals.
The intimate nooks invited conversation + brimmed with bright, whimsical accents + fresh tropical foliage. A sense of eclecticism that accurately conveyed the essence of both Mid-Century + modern-day Hawaii, was key. Dining tables included an amalgamation of mod tulip tables + those swathed in nostalgic Beverly Hilton palm prints + an alternating palette of mango, ocean + crisp white, cane-stitched linens.
Chairs, too, offered a sense of old + new, contemporary + throw-back – papaya, kiwi + teal Eames Eiffel, blonde modern bentwood, colonial X-backs + bamboo chairs were among the more-than-ten styles employed to achieve this collected quality. Centerpieces boasted a bounty of island botanicals + fresh tropical fruit. MCM bertoia barstools surrounded white trough tables where orchids seemingly grew from the center of the table.
Individual food stalls, each with its own culinary contribution + aesthetic, honored Hawaii’s distinctive Pan-Asian culinary topography. Blonde wood slatted walls served as the common thread to all restaurants –each having been adorned by art installations, impact graphics or botanic displays to mirror the respective concept’s design.
